FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Paddling is a great link with all you'd ever
need to know about paddling. Highly
recommended reading before your float!
Which type of boat is right for me?
- Canoes are great for long floats... a canoe provides more room for gear (cooler, fishing gear, snacks, etc.). If you are floating with a youngster that is not ready to paddle alone, we recommend a canoe or tandem kayak. If you want "togetherness" on a float, pick a canoe. The stronger paddler goes in back to provide directional strokes, and the front paddler provides speed and navigation.
- Kayaks are fun and very maneuverable. They are more stable than most people expect them to be, and are great for paddlers that like to control their own boat. They are more responsive to the paddler than a canoe. Our kayaks are "recreational" kayaks, and are VERY user-friendly.
- Tandem kayaks offer the benefits of a regular kayak, with room for a passenger. Great for taking a child with you - they sit in front!
Why don't you offer shuttle service during the week?
During the summer months shuttle will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. These are the only days a recreational flow is released from Wylie Dam.
Who are those cute kids in the pictures on the website?
We have no idea... they keep following us around, eating our food, making a mess in our house, asking for money.
Why do you meet us at the take out and not at the launch?
So your vehicle will be there waiting for you when you're done with your float. That way, when you decide to jump in the water at the end of your float, and your clothes/dogs/shoes are wet and muddy, you'll get in your car instead of our's! (kidding... kind of)
Most importantly, for your convenience so you don't have to wait for others in the group to finish, you can leave when you're ready!
If I am bringing children that do not technically belong to me (the neighbor's kids, nieces, nephews, etc), how do I get their parents to sign a waiver?
Print out this WAIVER FOR MINOR and have the parent/guardian sign it, then please bring it with you on the trip. Be sure to return the children to their rightful owners.
