DIRECTIONS TO LAUNCH/TAKE-OUT LOCATIONS:
When you call to make reservations, we will arrange to meet you at the location specified for your trip.
Our Launch sites are located with easy access to I-77. We are one hour north of Columbia, SC and 30 minutes south of Charlotte, NC.
Lake Wylie Dam
I-77 Northbound (from Columbia and points south) : I-77 North to Exit 83 (Sutton Road). Turn left onto Sutton Road. Turn left onto New Gray Rock Road and travel for 1.4 miles. The Dam Access Area and Boat Landing will be located on the left. Be ready at 1.4 miles, you can't see the sign from the road until you've already turned in to the access area
I-77 Southbound (from Charlotte and points north) : I-77 South to the Sutton Road exit. Turn right on Sutton Road. Turn left on New Gray Rock Road and travel for 1.4 miles. The Dam Access and Boat Landing will be located on the left. Be ready, you can't see the sign from the road until you've already turned in to the access area.
Riverwalk
Google 2850 Cherry Road, Rock Hill SC, Riverwalk is at the 21/Cherry Road bridge over the Catawba River, on the Rock Hill side. Please don't confuse RiverWALK with RiverPARK. It's easy to do, we've all done it!
Lake Wylie Dam to River Park
We often ask that folks drop off their gear and extra people (if not all children) at the Dam, then one driver of each vehicle drives to River Park to meet our shuttle. These directions will get you from the Dam down to River Park.
- From the Dam Access Area on New Grey Rock Road, take a right back on to New Grey Rock Road.
- Drive to the stop sign on Sutton Road and take a right. You will cross over I-77, going to the next stop sign, on Cherry Road/Hwy21.
- Take a right onto Cherry Road/Hwy 21 and cross the bridge over the river.
- At the traffic light intersection of Cherry Road and Celriver Road (also known as Red River Road) you'll see Steak & Shake/Sonny's/Home Depot on your right.
- Turn left onto Celriver/Red River Road.
- Cross over several railroad tracks (carefully)
- You'll see the Manchester Water Treatment Plant on your left
- You'll see sign for River Park, turn left into River Park on Quality Circle
- Drive to parking area, you'll see the river... we'll meet you there.
River Park
I-77 Northbound (from Columbia and points south): I-77 north to exit 79 (Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill, SC). At end of exit ramp, turn right on to Dave Lyle Boulevard. You'll see the mall, Kohl's, etc. Turn left on Red River Road. Turn right on Quality Circle (portions are unpaved... just keep going). Stay on Quality Circle until you reach the park and canoe launch area.
I-77 Southbound (from Charlotte and points north): I-77 south to exit 79 (Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill). At end of ramp, turn left on to Dave Lyle Boulevard. You'll pass the mall, Lowe's, etc. Turn left on Red River Road past the mall/Kohl's. Turn right on Quality Circle (portions are unpaved, just keep going). Stay on Quality Circle until you reach the parking and canoe launch area.
Landsford Canal State Park
I-77 Northbound (from Columbia and points south) : I-77 north to exit 65. Turn right. Travel 1 mile then turn left on to Highway 223 (there's a 1st Citizens Bank on the corner). Travel 7 miles then turn left on Highway 21. Travel approx. 2 miles to Landsford Road. Turn right and the entrance will be 1.5 miles down the road.
I-77 Southbound (from Charlotte and points north): I-77 south to exit 77 (Hwy 5 and 21). Turn left (south) for 10 miles to State Park sign and turn left. The entrance will be a mile or so down the road.
For the LOWER LANDSFORD CANAL (trip take out) entrance, go past the entrance to Landsford Canal State Park on Landsford road, don't turn into main gate. Drive to the stop sign on Canal Road, turn left, and drive to the end of the road.
Highway 9 Bridge Landing, Fort Lawn SC
I-77 Northbound (from Columbia and points south) : I-77 north to exit 65. Turn right towards Lancaster/Chester. Travel 12 miles. You'll see Catawba Fish Camp on the left, cross the bridge, then turn left after the bridge (look for sign for landing). Cross over to dirt road and follow to the bridge, park below the bridge. OR, go on up I-77 north to exit 77 and follow directions below.
I-77 Southbound (from Charlotte and points north): I-77 south to exit 77 (Hwy 5 and 21). Turn left (south) on Hwy 21 for approx. 16 miles. Turn left at intersection to Highway 9. You'll see Catawba Fish Camp on the left, cross the bridge, then turn left after the bridge (look for sign for landing). Cross over to dirt road and follow to the bridge, park below the bridge.
From Pineville/Charlotte on Highway 521: Take 521 south from the Charlotte/Pineville area. Merge on to SC 9 By-pass North. SC 9 Bypass North becomes SC 9 North. Approximately 5 miles to landing on the right, you'll see brown sign.
